Definite value for the money August 23, 2010 SZAA (Virginia) It takes a lot to get me to spend more than 10 bucks on something for my beauty routine and if you've actually convinced me to spend that 10 bucks, I probably have a coupon hidden away somewhere to make the cost less! But, when a friend started raving about Hope in a Jar and all the good things it does for her skin, I was tempted to try it and was able to find a small jar for only $15.00 at my local Sephora store. I cannot tell you how fast I was hooked onto this moisturizer!
I have oily skin and am prone to breakouts along my chin and I've tried tons of different moisturizing products, but all are too heavy and/or greasy for someone with an oil issue. This one is super light and non-greasy and absorbs into my skin within just a minute or two, rather than the 10-15 minutes I would wait with the heavier creams. I only use the tiniest bit each day, so this really small jar has already lasted me about 3 months and it's not even 3/4 of the way gone.
I liked the scent, it wasn't perfumey or overly medicinal, it just smelled like unscented lotion, which was nice. And though it doesn't matter for the use of the product, the styling of the jar is cool and modern, which makes these Philosophy products great for gifts.
My only "complaint" is that this particular formula does not include sunscreen. I've since been informed that there is a "High Performance" formula that includes SPF 25, but it's more expensive. Sunscreen is pretty necessary these days and most moisturizing products and makeup products automatically come with it, so that was disappointing.
Other than that, I'm very happy with my purchase.
Not for someone with oily skin August 22, 2010 Pam Patton (GREENVILLE, PA, US) This product is not for someone who has somewhat oily to oily skin. It absorbs quickly. Within an hour I am oily all over.
It's just "alright" August 13, 2010 J. Monroe (Texas) I'm not a fan of this moisturizer. It has a neat texture, kind of a "whipped" feel, but it just didn't do that much for me. It moisturizes okay, but not great. If I put it on flaky skin overnight, it still is flaky in the morning. Yes, it makes my skin feel softer and it's pretty nice, but it doesn't do much more than my Mary Kay or drugstore moisturizers can do. It also smells weird, and the smell lingers for a long time. Some people like this, and I'm a fan of a lot of Philosophy's products, like Purity and the Microdelivery. However, I just don't feel this lotion is worth the price. It doesn't last long, and it doesn't work that great. Maybe it does more for older skin.
It smells horrible, ladies. August 4, 2010 Anony (The City Beautiful) This product caused my skin to become very dry. In 3 days I had red spots on my face. And lucky me- it also gave me acne all over my face and neck. I think it smells like lemon scented furniture polish with a hint of something metallic. Out of nowhere my 7-year-old child said, "Eww Mommy! Your face! It smells like rotten wet metal!" This from a boy that doesn't mind the odor of a wet dog. Ladies, don't buy the hype. I'm returning it and heading straight to my dermatologist.
Those that say they don't mind the scent are trying to make themselves feel better for being duped into buying expensive face cream that smells rancid.
I've tried everything from La Mer to Clinique and this is The Worst Cream Ever.
great!! August 3, 2010 D. Ellis Love Hope in a jar and was jazzed to see it available on Amazon for a great price.
